about us
Yoga Living is more than a magazine, it’s a holistic community!
Yoga Living magazine was created to serve as a local resource for healthy living, promoting holistic lifestyle approaches, including environmental sustainability and ecological living. Yoga Living magazine offers common sense truths with the goal of helping people to simplify their lives and create strong foundations of inner-peace in harmony with nature and society.
Yoga Living is a free quarterly magazine that is distributed throughout the community by holistic businesses like yoga studios, gyms, health food stores, whole foods markets, massage therapists and acupuncturists, health food stores, yoga centers etc. Production of the magazine continues to expand because the magazine is in high-demand. We honor a relationship-based method with all of our readers and advertisers.
The magazine is published with a local focus, which means that all the events and advertisers are from the Tri-State area (PA, NJ, DE). The articles are predominantly written by local writers, with the occasional national personality thrown in for fresh perspective. Yoga Living is a leader in this category, as the articles that we offer are not promotional in nature – they are real ideas meant to help our readers make informed choices about health, family, pets, food, personal growth and conscious living. This means that we do not accept advertorials (advertisements disguised as articles) like many other magazines do – our writers are not permitted to directly promote their businesses in their article content. All of our writers write as a service to the community.
With dedication to you and our community, will continually bring top quality, trustworthy and local sources of information. No one knows the Health and Wellness scene in the greater Philadelphia Area better than we do – we are at the big events, we visit holistic offices and we screen our advertisers.
The focus of our business values include kindness, support, love, and selfless service. We listen to and respect one other!
Publisher: Robert Butera, PhD
Robert Butera, M.Div., Ph.D., founded Yoga Living Magazine in 1999, with a vision of spreading the message of yoga philosophy and holistic living. After returning home from graduate school in San Francisco, where there were a multitude of free holistic publications Bob noticed that there was nothing comparable in the Philadelphia Area. He began to organize a list of natural healers, and what started as a small newsletter evolved into the present day full length publication. In addition to publishing Yoga Living, Bob is also the Director of The YogaLife Institute in Devon, Pennsylvania where he trains Yoga teachers, leads Seminars and writes on yoga.
Bob is certified by The Yoga Institute, Bombay, India, where he lived for six months in 1989. His Ph.D. dissertation for The California Institute of Integral Studies (1998) concerned a Yoga healing program for the immune system. Bob has a Masters of Divinity from The Earlham School of Religion (Quaker) and has lived in and studied meditation and personal growth in Japan, Taiwan, India and the United States. Bob’s first self-published book, The Classical Yoga Study Guide is the foundation for all of the YogaLife Institute’s programs. Bob’s second book, The Pure Heart of Yoga: 10 Essential Steps to Personal Transformation was released in Sept 2009 by Llewellyn Worldwide.
